Thannyo De Freitas

Thannyo De Freitas was born on April 25, 1976, in the Coastal City of Colon, in the Republic of Panama. His calling for art started at a young age as he demonstrated natural artistic qualities and participated in several drawing and painting competitions. At age 10, he was awarded a grant to study painting under Adán Vásquez, which was then followed by his family moving to the country’s capital; Panama City. He then went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Panama, specializing in visual arts with an emphasis on drawing and painting. His works are the reflection of his own imagination, inspired by Panama’s nature, biodiversity, and the harmonious balance that exists between the metropolitan and the countryside. This new series “Isla Flotante” continues Thannyo’s ongoing dialogue with the environment and how art can transport the viewers to levels of otherworldliness.
